Tipping Etiquette
Restaurants
For just a coffee or a drink, leave the change; for a quick, casual dinner leave about $1; for dinner in a nice restaurant, leave about 10-15%.
Hotels
Concierges aren't common, but tip $5 if they do something special; cleaning staff - a few dollars/day in an envelope at the end of your stay; bellboys - $1/bag; you may want to leave the dining-room breakfast staff $5 at the stay's end for good service.
Guides & Drivers
Tip them separately 10-20% per day; for taxi drivers, just leave the change.
Dollars Accepted?
Not so much, use euros.
*If you're sailing the coastline, at the end of your trip leave about $50/person for the skipper, and 15-20% of the total cost of the journey for the kitchen staff if there is one.
